Tomato Basil Pasta Dish (Print)

Pasta in tomato sauce with basil and parmesan, finished with balsamic vinegar for brightness.

# What You'll Need:

01 - 2 tablespoons olive oil
02 - 1 small yellow onion, diced
03 - 4 garlic cloves, minced
04 - Salt and pepper
05 - 1 (28-ounce) can diced tomatoes, drained
06 - 1-2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
07 - ½-1 cup pasta water
08 - 16 ounces thin spaghetti or angel hair
09 - ½ cup fresh basil, chopped
10 - ½ cup parmesan cheese, grated

# How to Make It:

01 - Cook pasta according to package instructions.
02 - Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium-low heat. Once hot, add onions, garlic, salt, and pepper, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
03 - Add tomatoes and balsamic vinegar to the pan and cook until slightly reduced, about 5-8 minutes.
04 - When pasta is done, add ½ cup of the pasta cooking water to the tomatoes. Drain pasta and add it to the tomato sauce along with basil and parmesan cheese. Toss to combine.
05 - Taste and add more basil and salt as needed. Serve immediately.
